The other day, I woke up and said to myself “I’m hungry.” I then ate some rice cereal and laid back down. I awoke again several hours later and said to myself “I want to make a comic strip.”

It was at this point that I realized that I had no idea what my comic strip would be about or how I would go about making it. So I sat around for a while and thought. It was a long and grueling process (as thinking often is). I eventually settled on a space adventure theme, mostly because this was territory that wasn’t really being covered by any other comic strips that I was aware of and it gave me a myriad of options for locales and people and whatever.

So with that figured out I started doodling doodles on doodle paper. After a while, things began to take shape and Manfred E. Galaxy was born. Manfred is a human who spends his time gallivanting around the universe righting wrongs…often through violence. He’s slow to think and quick to action, as far as I’m concerned that’s the best kind of hero.

He’s assisted by his sidekick Dennis Drosophil, a bug looking alien. He’s loyal to a fault and trusts his compatriot to get them out of any scrapes that he gets them into.

I tried to come up with a good intro for these characters in my first strip (which is the one above this writing) and I think I did that, though your mileage may vary.

Anywho, that’s a little background on how I arrived at this point.
